Rico uses an address search to pull through site information from the Council GIS. There can occasionally be issues locating the right site through this system given variations in how these are recorded in the Council's GIS database. This article targets common issues here.
How GIS works and address search works
GIS assigns information to parcels of land. In Rico, when you add a site to your project, you are adding one parcel of land.
Addresses are one way to identify a parcel of land you'd like to add, but not every parcel of land has the address you were expecting or in some rare cases, no address at all.
If you cannot find the address you want or don't have an address to search in Rico
Find the parcel of land in Council GIS
Go to Council Geomaps and locate your subject site using the tool for selecting features to select the subject site, as pictured below.

With the property selected. You'll be able to see the address or addresses in the council database that make up that property and the legal description(s) for the parcel(s) of land that apply to that address in the results on the left-hand side of the GIS.
Locate the address that covers the parcel of land you want
To find the parcel of land in Rico, you must search for the address in the Council GIS to which the parcel of land belongs. If you've found the address that contains the parcel of land, search for this in Rico's address search and this should bring back the correct result.
If there are multiple parcels of land applying to one address
Sometimes there are multiple parcels of land under one address (there can be many). You will want to pick those which make up the subject site of your project.
In Rico, if you search for an address to which multiple parcels of land belong, you will see multiple results for the same address, each with a different parcel of land (appellation). Add all those which make up your subject site. If you are adding multiple, you will need to click to add one, then click 'add another address' to add additional parcels of land. You can only add one parcel of land at a time.
If you cannot locate an address for your subject site in Council GIS
In very rare cases, there is no address at all to which the parcel of land you wish to deal with applies to. In these cases, there currently isn't anything we can do. We suggest getting in touch with support@rico.nz to confirm this and see if there are any alternative options.
